Karostech was activated in October 2007 to focus in taking Oasis concept to the global level. Mr. Ilkka Kakko, who used to be a long-term leader of the Oasis project in Joensuu Science Park Ltd, changed his responsibilities in Science Park for Managing Director position in Karostech, which at that time was a full affiliate of JSP. The first year of operations was focusing in the building of the solid fundamentals for the business. After the share emission on June 2008 and with the new shareholders, the focus has moved more to direct business activities like getting the first Oasis constructions outside Joensuu started.

Oasis concept has created a lot of interest especially in the science and technology park world, where Mr Kakko has had presentations in IASP World Conferences 2004, 2005 and 2007. The first implementation of Oasis concept in Joensuu since December 2006 has meanwhile become "the proof of the concept" and helped a lot in understanding the future challenges in creation of interconnected global network of Oasises.
